
MARK SONNENBERG
Asset builder, visual storyteller and C-level executive, Mark Sonnenberg follows a simple guiding principle: create and acquire compelling content produced utilizing innovative technology, curated and delivered seamlessly to users on their platform of choice.
With deep roots in content, Sonnenberg has been an integral part of the management and leadership of various channels and businesses – large and small as well as corporate and entrepreneurial.
Sonnenberg has acquired, developed and overseen the creation of thousands of hours of content. Prior to Health Hero Network, Sonnenberg’s partnership at XE5 Media Group, provided content and operational expertise for companies such as AT&T, National Geographic channels, Village Roadshow Entertainment Group and Fremantle’s Original Productions.
Sonnenberg started his career in broadcast television research – first at KTTV in Los Angeles and then ABC Network – he returned to local television as Program Director for LA television station, KTLA, where he helped create and then later became the Executive Producer of the Emmy Award winning, KTLA Morning News. The program became the staple for morning news programs across the country and revolutionized morning television. While at KTLA, Sonnenberg successfully negotiated several studio movie packages and off-net acquisitions that were instrumental in the station being the leading independent in the market.
News Corp. later recruited Sonnenberg to be part of the launch team that propelled Fox into the cable arena with FX Networks. Initially, brought to the company for his programming expertise, Sonnenberg ultimately was put in charge of FX Networks and led its successful growth within the cable industry. Sonnenberg later moved into a corporate role, looking after Fox’s interests in many cable channels including Golf Channel, The Health Network and TVG.
Sonnenberg expanded into the pay and VOD arena – first, as EVP, Entertainment for the major cable operators’ ownership in pay-per- view content at iN DEMAND and then for the VOD service, Intertainer, before returning to basic cable.
At E! Networks, he was responsible for the entire entertainment operation and oversaw such hit programs as E! True Hollywood Story, The Anna Nicole Show, Dr. 90210, E! News Live and the LIve From the Red Carpet franchise. During his tenure at E! Networks, the company experienced its greatest growth in Adults 18-34 and Adults 18-49. Following E! Networks, Sonnenberg helped create a west coast programming operation for Discovery Networks, working between the creative community and the company’s various channels including Discovery and TLC.
He resides in Woodland Hills, California with his wife, Michelle. They have two adult sons, Max and Sam.
